What is your goal?
Our mission is to create a digital butler. A conversational software tool designed to help organise oneself, automate tasks, connect to one's home, and find information.
How do I download the Cyman Mark 2 Android Application?
You can download the Android application from Google Play (formerly called the Android Market) on this link - http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cyman.android
What is Jarvis exactly?
Our system is called CYMAN, but we originally named it the J.A.R.V.I.S System. The Iron Man movie series portray J.A.R.V.I.S as an artificial intelligence digital home assistant for Tony Stark, who built it. (In the original comics, Edwin Jarvis was actually a human butler). The acronym actually stands for "Just A Rather Very Intelligent System".

What is an Alpha version
First of all, try asking Cyman "What is an Alpha Version" ;-) An alpha release is essentially a prototype release. We want to make sure that when the real deal is released, we are on the right track. So an alpha release relies on your feedback through our contact page.
Why only for Android?
First of all, we want to convey that this is an alpha version. The purpose is to see if what we have been doing really is wanted out there, and see what we need to do to improve it. The reason we started with Android is for 3 reasons:
Having said that, if this venture is successful, we fully intend to spread to iOS and other devices!
- Cost of money - We are doing this on the side, and have a number of other important endeavours that require our financial resources. It is simply cheaper developing for Android especially at a prototyping stage.
- Cost of time - We are more familiar with the language used to code for Android. We have put off a release date for so long, we had to get a fix on a date.
- Testing - On our team, we each have an Android 4.0. We cannot reliably say our app works well with iOS (or even other Android versions for that matter) without thoroughly testing the actual phone.
Having said that, if this venture is successful, we fully intend to spread to iOS and other devices!
How can I help?
Feedback and donation! As we are in alpha so far, we are relying on your comments either on our blog page or our contact page. Whilst we may not reply to each individual question, we do read each one and give ourselves work to do based on those.
We have a donate button on the left hand side of the website. We are doing this work out of our own time and money, so donations will help to keep the project afloat!

I can't hear Cyman speak
Cyman Mark 2 utilises the default text-to-speech software on your Android phone. If you can't hear any responses, first tell Cyman to unmute or give the command "speech mode on". If that still does not work, check you have a working text-to-speech feature in your Settings menu (usually under Language and Input).
Why does my Cyman sound female?
The male British voice demonstrated in our promotional video comes from the English (UK) setting of the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) text-to-speech engine. Of course you can always set your default speech engine to an external app (like eSpeak for example)
